The autumn season has arrived in my quilting studio! Whether it's my towering stack of fall fabric projects or my daughter's orange and yellow resin earrings, it's beginning to feel a lot like autumn! To ring in the new season, we have been working hard to introduce a new project to the shop: mug rugs. These adorable handcrafted quilted mug rugs are designed to make snacking clean and easy while bringing some holiday cheer into your life.

In case you're new to mug rugs, they're a fantastic way to change your snacking experience. Larger than a coaster but smaller than a placemat, mug mats are just the right size to hold a drink and a snack. They provide an extra barrier between your table and your drinks/snacks, which is a must have in my house. I've avoided quite a few scrapes and spills by making mug rugs mandatory for snack and meal times. While we may be advertising this product as a mug rug, there are plenty more ways use this quilted creation. The design functions perfectly as table decor, a coaster, a placemat, and even wall art.

Now, you might be worried about sacrificing a beautiful mug mat to protect your furniture. Don't! These mug rugs are more than just decorative. They are made with 100% cotton fabric and Hobbs 80/20 batting for heirloom quality. So, this mat is washable and made to last. The added batting gives the mat some thickness, but still allows it to be lightweight and not bulky.

I can't talk about all of the perks of this mug mat without mentioning the adorable fall fabrics! A lot of time and effort went into matching fabrics for this mug rug so that the final product pops. There is a large center panel with white sunflowers and assorted brown flowers on a black background. The outer border is brown gold speckles. The binding was made using a brown with gold speckles fabric that was added on using a sewing machine for strength and durability. The backing of the mat is a black and gray rustic fabric. The mat features quilted swirls on top in white thread. The quilting is visible on the front and back of the mug rug, so you can flip it over to the back side when you need a change of scenery! Thanks to a lot of thought and care, the final piece is a beautiful mug rug that embodies the autumn spirit.

Although the final picture gives a decent idea about the size of the mug rug, you should confirm that the dimensions work for you. The mat is 12 x 10.5 inches.
