The added batting gives the mat some thickness, but still allows it to be lightweight and not bulky.

I can't talk about all of the perks of this mug mat without mentioning the gorgeous fall fabrics! A lot of time and effort went into matching fabrics for this mug rug so that the final product pops. There is a large center panel with sunflowers and fall leaves on a black background. The panel is accented by metallic gold. The outer border is burnt orange with golds speckles. The binding is orange with florals and gold speckles. The binding was adding on using a sewing machine for strength and durability. The backing of the mat is a white and gray distressed fabric. The mat features a quilted wavy crosshatching pattern on top in silver thread. The quilting is visible on the front and back of the mug rug, so you can flip it over to the back side after fall ends! Thanks to a lot of thought and care, the final piece is a beautiful mug rug that embodies the coziness and elegance of autumn.
