My family loves to go camping over the summer, but I don't love how much waste goes into it! For every trip, we used to store each of our toiletries in plastic bags that just get thrown away afterwards. So, to make our travel more eco-friendly, I started making these travel towel rolls! These rolls are designed to keep everything clean, organized, and secure so you can camp free of waste and worry.

The roll consists of pink and gold paisleys on green patterned cotton fabric on the outside and brown toweling on the inside. The choice to add the cotton fabric on the outside was mostly for aesthetics, but also serves an important function. In a family like mine where everyone has their own roll, it saves so much confusion to be able to differentiate by the fabric on the outside! This way you can travel in style without accidentally taking someone else's roll. The toweling on the inside, however, is entirely functional. The toweling is present so that if a toiletry is wet or dirty, nothing is seeping through! The towel will soak up any excess moisture/dirt and keep it from going on anything else in your bag. This is much more sanitary than any alternative made of only cotton fabric. There is also an elastic band sewn to one side of the roll for quick and easy closure. Once your toiletry bag is full and rolled up, just slip the elastic band over the entire thing to keep it nice and secure. Although the elastic may be short, it is extremely stretchy, so it should fit over your filled roll no matter what.

Aside from the materials put into the roll, there are a lot of unique features that make it perfect for travel. First of all, this roll is huge! When unrolled, it measures 17 inches long by 8 inches tall. Although this size is perfect for my toiletries, it wouldn't hurt to measure yours and make sure everything will fit just right. Another one of these fabulous features is the 5 sewn-in slots on the bag. Two of the slots are larger and three of the slots are smaller. The choice to add 5 slots as opposed to 1 large pouch allows extra security for the items you put into the roll. I also shouldn't forget to mention the flap on the top of the roll. This flap folds down to cover the tops of all of your toiletries, preventing them from touching when it is all rolled up! The flap is essential for someone like me, who needs everything to stay clean and organized at all times. The final, and probably the best feature, is that this roll is washable. After you travel, you can throw the toiletry holder in the washer and it will come out as good as new. So, you can embark on your next trip with just as much cleanliness and neatness as the last.
