Holiday jewelry is one of my favorite ways to express some holiday cheer in a minimalist way. Obviously, Halloween is on that list of exciting holidays that I absolutely need to dress up for! This is why I put so much effort into creating a diverse set of spooky yet stylish Halloween earrings. I wanted to create a vast range of both loud and muted styles of Halloween earrings so that everyone can make some holiday spirit fit into their wardrobe, and not the other way around. There are a lot of reasons why I prefer to make resin jewelry. First of all, resin is such a unique substance. It has qualities that can't be matched by other materials used to make earrings. Unlike clay, it is completely clear and therefore can take on glitters and pigments while still having a beautiful shine. Unlike acrylic, there is a never-ending about of ways to add various colors to your resin. Even the slightest change in a color, embed, or layer can transform a piece into something new and beautiful. Every resin creation is practically one-of-a-kind. I absolutely adore how much freedom creating with resin gives, so it is my usual choice when jewelry-making.

For this pair of earrings, I chose to mix glitters and pigments into crystal clear resin. There is a dark green pigment mixed with medium iridescent green glitter and a black pigment mixed with fine holographic gold glitter. The black and the green were poured into opposite sides of the earring mold and allowed to flow together. This produced two distinctly different colored halves of the rectangle earrings with a slight mixing in the middle. Once the earrings were dry, nickel-free gunmetal colored metal hardware was added. This hardware consisted of two jump rings and an ear wire on each earring. The final earrings have a beautiful glossy finish paired with the dark, spooky coloring made for the Halloween season. And, because there's nothing explicitly Halloween related about these earrings, you can wear them regardless of the time of year!
