The binding was added on using a sewing machine for strength and durability. The backing of the mat is black with swirling holly berry and gold metallic accents. The mat features a quilted looping pattern on top in silver thread. The quilting is visible on the front and back of the mug rug, so you can flip it over to the back side for a second look!
